Flat Feet Correction
Fixing the flat feet, is it a big problem? It is always being asked by many people that how to correct and rectify it. Addressing something like flat feet can be easy or difficult based on the number of distortions present in the body of the concerned person. What is Flat Feet?Mostly flat feet is an issue mainly for people have completely disconnected functions of the upper part of the body with the lower parts. It is also known as fallen arches. It is basically the postural deformity occurs due to deformity in the foot arches resulting in the coming up of the entire sole of the foot into complete or near complete to the ground.Causes of Flat Feet: Flat feet is the congenital malformation of bones which is highly evident under the X ray pates. Flat feet may not be cause of any problems but few causes have been highlighted from the research works are in some people:- · Pain in the foot and ankle. · Leg pain · Knee pain · Hip or Back Pain · Flat foot may be carried over genes or heredity. It is mainly caused due to excessive stress exerted by the foot. This abnormality of fallen arches may occur at the present of birth or even may be hereditary also. Symptoms of Flat Feet: The symptoms that are very transparent in case of Flat feet are:· Feet’s generally get tired very easily.· Feet may be painful or achy, especially in certain areas of heels and arches. · Sometimes the deep inside bottom of feet may get swollen. · Certain foot movement, like standing long time on toes may be extremely painful. · And the most common aspect is the back and leg pain which is extremely terrible to bear for the person suffering the flat feet. How does Flat Feet affect our body?Although painless, having a Flat Feet can have multiple effects in human body such as:· Discomfort in the feet or ankles. · Pain may be slight or sometimes excessive while doing any kind of activities such as playing, walking, running and jumping etc. · Misalignment of Legs that is improper alignment or arrangement in the stepping of the feet thereby causing ankle or knee problems. · Sometimes misalignment may lead to ankle sprains or even fractures also. · Remedies of Flat Foot:Solution 1: Posterior Oblique Sling: In short we know it as POS where are following rectifications are performed.1) Primary Function of POS: · Connects the shoulders with the hip joints to prevent the disconnection between the upper parts of the body and lower. · Initiates a movement of rotation and counter rotation of pelvis and thorax. · It even helps to facilitate the function of arm extension followed by a hip extension simultaneously with the aim of maintain the connection with the upper and the lower parts of the body. Exercises that help to train the POS:The exercises that help to perform the Posterior Oblique Sling are;· Contralateral step Press · Contralateral step Pull · Contralateral KB swings · Cable bar Rows. If we follow the anatomical system of study, then we will get to know that foots connect to glutes and lats ( glutes are the gluteal muscle comprising of 3 muscle that forms the buttocks and lats is the latissimus dorsi) via which myofascial force of transmission that is muscle to muscle connection involved. Generally we all know that foots has tons of ligaments but they do not connect muscle to muscle. But the tension on those ligaments completely dependent on the balance within the muscles. These muscles are greatly dependent on larger muscles like Gluteal muscle and latissimus dorsi muscle. Thus the main point of conclusion is that all the parts are well connected preventing any kind of dis connectivity between parts. 2) Protonation is the rotation of the foot inward and outward, so that during walking the foot becomes inward and comes down to its inner edge. So reducing protonation will help to heal several problems by following few tips listed below are:-
· Try to buy shoes with arch support. It is advisable that for people suffering from flat feet should always wear shoes with arch support to prevent the discomfort to the arch causing arch malformation and thereby having a comfy effect on the feet while walking.
· Shoes are the most vital key point for the remedy of flat footed person. So it is always advisable that the shoes worn by them should have a motion control function and stability providence so that a medial posture is maintained and bending of arches are prevented at the same time.
· Generally shoes are the primary concern. So very soft cushioning shoes are generally avoided so that the feet is placed and positioned properly and keeping the arch in a comfortable position to walk. This will even reduce the pain in ankle or leg that usually occurs in Flat feet.
· Generally the flat footed person should be very careful while walking on the road or footpath. They should be avoiding the rough or course ground as those may cause a discomfort to their arch of the feet thereby leading to pain of the leg or the ankle even in many cases. Uneven running surfaces like the golf courses and trails are generally avoided as they may be very risky for them to walk upon properly and sometimes may lead to sprains or fractures due to misalignment of the stepping feet.
3) Certain exercises should be performed to get rid of that terrible pain of the flat feet. It includes:
· Short Foot: This will help to strengthen the arches and exercise the small muscle will help to regain the strength of the arches providing a relief of pain to a great extent.
· Calf Stretch: Good ankle flexibility is important part to prevent the collapse of the arch and reduce the level of protonation.
· Heal Raises: This will strengthen the several lower leg muscle that will support the arch. This exercise can be performed in variations.
· Toe Yoga: Toe yoga helps in the pressing of the big toe and again lifting of the big toe keeping the other toes down
